LA PORTE — For the first time this track season, the Dawson Lady Eagles didn't win the track meet they entered. Competing against all 5A schools - Dawson finished a close second behind host La Porte who outscored the Lady Eagles 95-86.
Clear Lake finished third with 91.5 points followed by SB Memorial (69), Cy-Woods (66.5), Elkins (57), North Shore (40), Nimitz (39), Dobie (37), Katy (36), Stratford (11), Jersey Village (14), and Eisenhower (13).
The 800 medley relay team of Tifani Herndon, Natavia Williams, Albrina Wilson, and Brook Wilson took second place with a time of 1:50.
Karina Turner finished second in the 100 hurdles (15.86).
Camille Bender placed second in the triple jump (36-5 1/2) while Jennifer Bush finished in seventh place (34-9 3/4).
Bush took second in the high jump (5-1).
Samantha Montgomery was third in the pole vault (10-0) with Jennifer Blair taking fourth (9-6).
The 400 meter relay quartet of Herndon, N. Williams, Sidtrice Crichlow, and A. Wilson finished third in 49.23).
The 1600 medley relay team of Brittany Williams-White, Tierreny Moody, Kayla Jamerson, and Erica Taylor finished third (4:25).
The 800 relay team of Wilson, Williams-White, N. Williams, and Moody took fifth place (1:47).
Mary Luster finished fourth in the 3200 (12:12).
Porsha Thomas was fifth in the long jump (16-5).
Samantha Walker was fifth in the shot put (34-1 3/4).
