PEARLAND — Dawson head coach Jerry Killen continues to see his girls track teams succeed no matter where he coaches. The Pearland native has spent his entire coaching career in his hometown and he saw the girls of Pearland High School become a district dynasty with six straight distict titles before he left to take on a new challenge at the new Dawson High School.
In only three short years with two years of varsity experience, Killen saw his girls literally run away with the District 24-4A championship last week at Angleton.
Dawson won 10 of the 17 events to score 242 points while the nearest team in second place was Angleton who had 116.5 points. The Lady Eagles also qualified 15-of-17 for the Class 4A Region III meet which dictates who will go to the state track meet in Austin. The top three girls in each event at the district meet move on to regionals.
