FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood girls won their 11th straight District 24-4A championship at the Doyle Natatorium on Friday, cruising to victory by 152 points.
The Friendswood boys won their ninth straight district crown, holding off Dawson, 162-117, in the final standings.
“We did well at the meet,” Friendswood coach John Little said. “Our depth helps out a lot. We have quality at every event and that’s how we are able to score a lot of points.”
The Friendswood girls won 10 of the 12 events, most in dominating fashion. Senior Melissa Watson led the way with district titles in four events — 200-relay, 200-freestyle, 100-breast stroke and 400-freestyle relay.
Junior Meagan Westhoven (200-relay, 200-IM, 400-free relay) and sophomore Rachel Cragin (200-relay, 100-butterfly, 200-free relay) each won three titles, while Lauren Lundquist (200-relay, 200-free relay), Kelsey Castro (100-backstroke, 400-free relay) and McKenna Harclerode (200-free relay, 400-free relay) each won two events.
Alexandria Taylor (500-free) and Hailey Lutz (200-free relay) also advanced to the next week’s regional championships at the University of Houston by claiming district titles.
On the boys side, Friendswood won district titles in four of the 11 events. Philip Stevens won the 100-backstroke (1:00.22) and Jared Maloy won the 100-breast stroke (1:06.55). Friendswood’s 200-medley relay team (Stevens, Maloy, Alec Maloy, Daniel Rockey) and 400-free relay (Cameron McInnis, Nick Bowen, Michael Tomerlin, Rockey) also won.

1. Friendswood High School 246, 2. Angleton High School 94, 3. Manvel High School, Mavericks 75, 4. Glenda Dawson High School 54, 5. Brazosport High School 35 and 6. Texas City High School 23.

1. Friendswood High School 162, 2.Glenda Dawson High School 117, 3. Manvel High School Mavericks 92, 4. Angleton High School 67, 5. Texas City High School 50 6, and Brazosport High School 14.
