FREINDSWOOD — The Friendswood Lady Mustangs dropped a 5-0 game to the Santa Fe Lady Indians in a District 24-4A match-up.
Santa Fe scored three runs in the second inning on a double, bunt single, passed ball, wild pitch, and a mental error.
The Lady Indians added two more runs in the sixth inningĀ on back-to-back singles and a double to make the final score 5-0 as Friendswood was unable to string together a consistent offensive attack leaving eight runners stranded on the bases. The Lady Mustangs left the bases loadd in the sixth.
Maber Mils had two hits including a triple. Carrie Flores and Lindsey Davis each had a hit.
Friendswood committed three errors while Kelly Smith took the loss going six innings and allowing seven hits with three earned runs and striking out nine.

Friendswood got a hard-fought district win with a 3-2 victory over the Dawson Lady Eagles.
Kelly Smith had a no-hitter entering the sixth inning when Taylor Duplechain picked up the first Dawson hit with an infield single. The next batter grounded out to the shortstop, but a throwing error allowed Duplechain to score for a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Mustangs finally got some offense in the bottom of the sixth as Amber Mills and Carrie Flores hit back-to-back singles. Lauren Massar grounded into a fielder's choice that forced Mills out at third.
With runners at first and second, Lindsey Davis stepped up and launched a three-run homer giving the Lady 'Stangs a 3-1 lead.
Dawson attempted to rally in the top of the seventh when they put runners on first and third. with one out. Smith struck out the next hitter, but gave up an infield single that allowed the runner from third to score to close the gap to 3-2. But Smith got a called third strike to end the game to pick up the win.
Friendswood is now 13-8-1 on the season and 2-2 in district.
The Lady Mustangs will host Brazosport on Friday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m.
