FRIENDSWOOD — Friendswood won the District 42-4A soccer title and had two players receive two of the top honors. But Manvel also had two players take top honors while Pearland Dawson, in only their second year of varsity competition, had one player who was recognized for his outstanding play this past season.
The overall Most Valuable Player award went to Manvel senior Jimmy Wells while senior goalkeeper Cameron Schlegal of the Mavericks was named "Goalie of the Year."
Friendswood senior Brian Bordelon was named "Defensive MVP" while Friendswood sophomore Brian Mulcahey was named "Newcomer of the Year."
Dawson freshman Jacob Hood was named "Offensive MVP."
Area players named to the first team included senior Tyler Barras (Friendswood), senior Caleb Duff (Manvel), senior Kingsley Emelogu (Manvel), senior Nolan Henriguez (Manvel), senior Brandon Lopez (Dawson), junior Rodolfo Rubio (Dawson), senior Chandler Sager (Friendswood), senior Rodrigo Segura (Dawson), senior Curtis Wells (Friendswood), and senior Deke Wilson (Friendswood).
Named to the second team included senior Kyle Caton (Friendswood), senior Garett Jeske (Manvel), junior Chris Johnson (Friendswood), junior Corbin Kaspar (Friendswood), junior Jose Laguna Roman (Dawson), senior Garrett Listi (Dawson), senior Alex Miller (Manvel), sophomore Jose Montalvo (Friendswood), senior David Orta (Manvel), and junior Stuart Watkins (Dawson).
Honorable mention were: sophomore Jacob Baird (Friendswood), junior Rafael Castillo (Dawson), senior Matt Craig (Friendswood), senior Austin Dombrowski (Dawson), senior Jerry Garner (Dawson), senior Hector Guzman (Manvel), senior Jonathon Mireles (Manvel), senior Byron Randle (Friendswood), and sophomore Jose Santiago (Manvel).
