PEARLAND — The Friendswood Lady Mustangs proved they are the No. 1 area-ranked team with a 51-36 blowout over Manvel.
Senior Annalisa Hall led the blowout with 11 points, four steals and three rebounds. Also contributing for Friendswood (19-2, 5-0) were J.C. Woodard (nine points, nine rebounds), Jill Bergeson (eight points), Taylor Wilson (seven points) and Kellsey Kaufhold (six points).
Friendswood 36, Dawson 22The Lady Mustangs won a low-scoring defensive battle against the Dawson Lady Eagles.
Freshmen Jill Bergeson led Friendswood (18-2, 4-0) with 11 points, six rebounds and four steals. Kellsey Kaufhold added eight points and 13 rebounds, and Taylor Wilson had eight points, six steals and eight rebounds.
Dawson 77 - Brazosport 24Head coach Isabel Gomez saw her girls break their three-game district losing streak with a breakout win over Brazosport 77-24.
The Lady Eagles outscored Brazosport 34-18 in the first half and then broke open the game with a 26-6 third quarter and then held the Lady Exporters scoreless in the final eight minutes while pouring in 17 unanswered points to win with ease.
All 13 girls scored for Dawson with Ashlie Pinnock leading the way with 14 points while Sidtrice Crichlow tossed in 12 points including 3-of-5 behind the 3-point arc. Jasmine Colbert and Jasmine Charles each added nine points while Tiffany Malone scored eight points.
The win gives Dawson a 1-4 mark in league play and 8-15 overall.
Pearland 49 - Pasadena 29After suffering a district opening loss to Pasadena Dobie, the Pearland Lady Oilers ran past Pasadena 49-29 to even their league mark at 1-1.
Ebony Ford led the Pearland offense with 16 points to get the win.
Pearland 46 - Sam Rayburn 40Johnasha Manning scored 13 and Ebony Ford added 10 as the Lady Oilers improved their district record to 2-1 with a 46-40 win over the Sam Rayburn Lady Texans.
Trailing 35-27 entering the final period, Pearland rallied to outscore Rayburn 19-5 in the final eight minutes to pull out the hard-earned victory.
