Pearland takes out Pasadena Memorial 45-33

PEARLAND — For most of the season, the Pearland Oilers have struggled in district play leaving them in a must-win situation in their final game against Manvel (late Tuesday).

Keeping their playoff hopes alive, Pearland beat Pasadena Memorial 45-33 setting up the final game of the regular season.

The Oilers faced a fiesty Memorial team that was going to make the Oilers earn the win.

Both teams went back-and-forth in the first half with Pearland taking the first quarter 9-8 and the second period 11-8 for a slim 20-16 first half lead.

The third quarter proved to be the difference in the outcome as the Oilers outscored the visitors 13-5 for a 33-21 advantage entering the final frame.

The teams each scored 12 in the final eight minutes allowing the Oilers to beat the Mavericks 45-33.

Freshman Ajare Sanni scored a game-high 15 points to lead the offensive attack for Pearland.
