PEARLAND — The Pearland Lady Oilers opened up District 22-5A action with an easy win over Pasadena and then followed that with an 8-1 victory over Sam Rayburn to improve to 16-5 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Jessica Bowden went the distance against the Lady Texans allowing one run on six hits while striking out five without a walk. Bowden improves to 5-1 on the season.
The Lady Oilers opened up the first inning with a run as Bowden got an infield single and later scored for a 1-0 lead.
Pearland added three runs in the bottom of the third as Leandra Maly, Brooke DuBois, and pinch runner Megan Marcett all score for a 4-0 advantage.
The Lady O's added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth frames while Sam Rayburn managed one run in the top of the third making the final score 8-1.
Lauren Langner led the offensive attack for Pearland going 3-for-4 at the plate while scoring one run.
Bowden helped her own cause going 2-for-4 with one run while Haley Beam was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Stacie Pilkington was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.
Pearland traveled to La Porte on Tuesday (late) and will host Pasadena Memorial on Wednesday, March 17 at 6:30 p.m. in a crucial showdown between to the two pre-season teams picked to challenge for the 22-5A title.
