PEARLAND — The Pearland Lady Oilers thrashed Channelview 12-0 in the Class 6A Region III bi-district playoffs and now they have won the area round in a best-of-three series by sweeping Fort Bend Clements 5-0 and 5-2 to advance to the region quarterfinals.
Pearland will face Brazoswood on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Manvel in a one-game, winner take all playoff game.
The Lady Buccaneers beat defending Class 5A state champion Deer Park in a three-game series 2-1 which is a big break for the Lady Oilers.
Pearland beat Brazoswood 4-1 earlier this season, but both teams have obviously matured and gotten better. Pearland is riding a 16-game win streak after starting the season slower that usual.
The Lady Oilers are still a young team, but they are gaining more and more confidence and should continue to gain momentum with a win over the Lady Bucs.

Clements opened up the first inning with a run for a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but that didn't last long as the Lady Oilers scored three runs in the third for a 3-1 advantage.
Pearland added two more runs in the fifth for a 5-1 cushion.
Clements managed to score a harmless run in the seventh making the score 5-2, but that's as close as they would get in being eliminated from the playoffs.

Pearland got the win thanks in large part to Alyssa Denham's dominant, 12-strikeout performance. Denham allowed one earned run on seven hits and one walk over seven innings.
