PEARLAND — Former Pearland softball standout Lindsey Langner was named Southland Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year. Each university in the conference have a boy and girl selected from their school and Langner, who is a junior at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana was the top choice for the girls honor after posting a sparkling 3.87 GPA in Health and Human Performance.
Langner helped the Cowgirls to the Southland Conference Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament this past season. She led the Cowgirls with a perfect 1.000 fielding percent, was third on the team with a .390 on base percent and second on the team with 26 walks and 11 sacrifice bunts. She was fourth in batting average and hits and was a third team All-SLC pick.
Langner hit .283 with two doubles, eight RBIs, nine stolen bases, and 33 runs scored her senior year for Pearland. Langner, who played second base for the Lady Oilers, had 33 put outs and posted a .957 fielding percentage. She now roams the outfield for McNeese.
