PEARLAND — The honors continue to roll in for members of the Pearland Lady Oilers softball team. After head coach Laneigh Clark got her first Class 5A Region III title and trip to the state softball finals -- the veteran coach continues to see her girls receive post-season honors for their outstanding season.
Senior-to-be catcher Brittany Marcet was named to the 2009 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Associations All-American team.
Marcet was also named to the NFCA South Central All-Region first team and was joined by Jensen Tydelski (Louisiana at Lafayette) and sophomore pitcher Jessica Bowden. Junior Megan Coronado was named to the second-team.
Tydelski and Bowden were honorable mention All-American for the 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA team.
Tydelski was named to the EA Sports Softball All-American second-team which is an elite honor as Hall of Fame NFL coach/sports announcer John Madden and Tiger Woods are closely associated with EA Sports. Tydelski joins former Pearland players Rhiannon Kliesing (Texas A&M) in 2006 and 2007 and Kelsea Orsak (Texas A&M) in 2008 who were also named EA Sports All-Americans. This award was established in 2006.
Head coach Laneigh Clark was named Texas Girls Coaches Association 4A/5A "Coach of the Year."
