PEARLAND — The city of Pearland is hosting a pep rally and fundraiser for the Pearland 12-year-old All-Stars tonight at The Rig as they prepare to travel to play in the Little League World Series.
The gates will open at 5 p.m. for the fundraiser. It is going to cost thousands of dollars to help offset travel, hotel and other expenses associated with the team’s trip to Willamsport, PA. and Pearlanders can show their support tonight.
The rally will begin at 7:00 p.m.
This is the first time in Pearland history that a Little League team has advanced to the World Series - which is the flagship tournament for the boys of summer.
Every kid who ever played little league has dreamed of playing at Williamsport. Now, the boys from Pearland will get to experience the magical trip to the hallow ground of little league baseball.
Pearland will play Minnesota, winner of the Midwest Regional, in their first-round game at the Little League World Series next Friday (Aug. 20) at 2:00 p.m.
Minnesota defeated North/South Dakota, 8-3, Saturday afternoon to punch its ticket to Williamsport.
