Friendswood 3, Clear Brook 1
The Friendswood Lady Mustangs got by Clear Brook by the scores of 25-21, 21-25, 26-24 and 25-19.
McKenna Friday led the charge for the Lady Mustangs with 17 kills and four blocks, and Kylie Lockhart shored up the defense with 21 digs. Elle McGown baffled Clear Brook's serve returners with seven aces, and Zeyanna Dhalla dealt out 31 assists.
Clear Brook's Kailin Newson had a match-best 21 kills.
The Woodlands 3 - Friendswood 0
The Woodlands Lady Highlanders showed why they're right at the top of the upper echelon of Houston-area high school volleyball, as they defeated the Friendswood Lady Mustangs by the scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 29-27 on Tuesday in a non-district match.
"We definitely took two games to adjust to their speed, but once we adjusted, I thought we did really well in the third game," Friendswood head volleyball coach Sarah Paulk said. "We just didn't give ourselves enough time to give ourselves a chance. But, I thought the third game, we played really well."
Lauren Hubbard and Faith Marabella led Friendswood in kills with six each. Fridye had four blocks, while Kylie Lockhart led the defense with 20 digs. Zeyanna Dhalla paced the attack with 15 assists.
Pearland 3 - Alief Taylor 0
Pearland opened its District 23-6A volleyball schedule with a 25-5, 25-11, 25-15 win over Alief Taylor.
The Lady Oilers were led by Victoria Kenney with eight kills while April Conant and Kaylie Kovach had six kills each.
Katie Whitehead added 17 assists for Pearland while Abi Watts contributed 15 assists and five aces. The Lady Oilers' Megan Keasler finished with a match-high 10 digs.
Pearland 3 - Alief Elsik 0
Pearland improved to 2-0 in the District 23-6A volleyball race with a 27-25, 25-14, 25-15 win over Alief Elsik.
Jackie Arrington led Pearland with 14 kills and Victoria Kenney contributed 11. Katie Whitehead led the Lady Oilers with 31 assists and Megan Keasler finished with a team-high 13 digs.
Pearland 3 - Alief Hastings 0
Pearland swept the Hastings Lady Bears 25-11, 25-10, 25-10 to improve to 3-0 in district action. Leading the offense was Sarah Wright (7 kills), Kaylie Kovach (7 kills, 4 blocks), Sam Demmon (5 kills, 5 blocks), Lauren Britt (5 kills), Jackie Arrington (4 blocks), Katie Whitehead (20 assists), and Abi Watts (16 assists).
Dawson 3 - George Ranch 0
The Dawson Lady Eagles opened up District 23-6A action with a sweep over George Ranch 25-23, 25-18, 25-12. Dawson is working toward defending their league title from last season.
Leading the way included: Kills: Jordyn Sinnette (15) Kynnedi Johnson (15) Katelynn Tripp (5) and Aliyah McDonald (3)
Assists: Sarah Kirk (22) and Amanda Wurster (11).
Blocks: McDonald (6), Tripp (3), Johnson (2), and Maddie Deslatte (2).
Digs: Marisabel Torres (20) Kirk (13), Sinnette (12), and Johnson (6).
Dawson 3 - Brazoswood 0
Dawson had no trouble sweeping the Brazoswood Lady Buccaneers 25-12, 25-11, 25-12to improve to 2-0 in District 23-6A play.
The Lady Eagles were led by: Kills: Jordyn Sinnette (8), Kynnedi Johnson (8), Sarah Kirk (7), and Katelynn Tripp(6).
Assists: Kirk (19), Amanda Wurster (7), and Hayleigh Moreno (5).
Blocks: Tripp (3) Aliyah McDonald (3), Johnson, and Nikki Deslatte (2).
Digs: Torres (17), Johnson(6), Kirk(5), and Julia Faseler (4).
