Oilers sting Yellowjackets 65-20

PEARLAND — The No. 3 area-ranked Pearland Oilers improved to 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in District 22-6A by beating the Alvin Yellowjackets 65-20. The win locks up Pearland's 15th straight spot in the post-season. With three district games remaining, Pearland is headed for a showdown with undefeated Manvel (6-0, 4-0) that will probably determine the league champion.

Pearland has to still face Sam Rayburn, Pasadena Memorial, and Manvel to wrap up the regular season schedule before the real season begins in the playoffs. The Oilers have their sights set on making another deep run for a state championship berth.

Alvin was no match for the Oilers as the Yellowjackets fall to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in district. The Yellowjackets still have an outside chance to make the playoffs as they have four league games left. They have Manvel, Dobie, Pasadena, and South Houston remaining on their schedule. Their game with Dobie may decide whether their season continues or ends.
