Pearland drills Sam Rayburn 52-7

PEARLAND — It was Homecoming for the Pearland Oilers and they certainly didn't disappoint anyone as they kept the Sam Rayburn Texans (0-7, 0,5) winless on the season while the Oilers remained unbeaten with a perfect 8-0 overall record.
Pearland will travel to face the Pasadena Memorial Mavericks on Saturday, October 25 at Pasadena Veterans Stadium before their showdown with the Manvel Mavericks on Friday, November 7 at The Rig. Both teams should be undefeated with the District 22-6A crown going to the winner.
Meanwhile, the Oilers easily took care of business against the hapless Texans as they had 387 total yards and 17 first downs while holding the Texans to 215 total yards and 13 first downs.
Pearland also caused five fumbles, recovering two, and picked off two passes in the lopsided win.
It didn't take long for the Oilers to get on the score board as Ryan Diaz hauled in a beautiful 34-yard scoring pass from QB Jake Blumrick for a quick 7-0 lead at the 10:14 mark.
Less than a minute later, Pearland scored again after recovering the kickoff that Sam Rayburn failed to handle. This time is was Davier Pinkston who scored on a 1-yard plunge making the score 13-0 following the missed PAT.
After a great punt pinning the Texans deep in their own territory, the Oilers got a sack in the end zone for a safety making the score 15-0.
The Oilers got the kickoff and quickly scored again when Cody Williams caught a 33-yard pass from Blumrick making the score 22-0 with 2:58 still remaining in the opening period.
With 11:08 left in the second quarter, Connor Lenamond booted a 32-yard field goal making the score 25-0.
Peter Alba closed out the first half scoring with a 1-yard run at the 1:00 minute mark making the halftime score 32-0.
The Oilers continued to dominate the second half as Williams caught his second scoring pass from Blumrick covering 19-yards with 9:32 left in the third. The missed PAT made it 38-0.
Diaz caught his second 34-yard scoring pass from Blumrick for a 45-0 advantage.
Pinkston closed out the Pearland scoring in the third with a 29-yard run for a 52-0 lead.
With 5:24 left in the game, Stanley Hackett put Sam Rayburn on the board with a 2-yard run making the final 52-7.
Hackett was a shining light for Sam Rayburn with 156 yards on 32 carries and one score.
Blumrick finished the game hitting 11-of-19 passing for 263 yards and four TDs.
Eric Boudreaux had six carries for 35 yards. Jacob Whitehead added 41 yards on three carries. Pinkston ad 10 totes for 30 yards and two scores. Alba had 10 carries for 18 yards and one TD.
