Pearland Lady Oilers

The Pearland Lady Oilers opened up the Class 6A Region III playoffs with a convincing win over the Channelview Lady Falcons 25-14, 25-9, 25-6.

Brooke Botkin led the offense with 18 kills and she got strong support from Sam Costello who added 10 kills and Hannah Ofczarzak had seven.

Caroline Shecterle dished out 28 assists and posted four aces. Amanda Chapa hustled for 16 digs.

No. 6 state-ranked Pearland improves to 35-7 overall and moves on to the next round in their quest to reach the state volleyball tournament.

The Dawson Lady Eagles prevailed in their opening playoff match against the North Shore Lady Mustangs. Dawson will advance to the second round of the Class 6A Region III playoffs.

The Lady Eagles swept the match 25-16, 25-17, 25-11.
