Pearland knocks off No. 1 College Park
The Pearland Lady Oilers upset the No. 1 area-ranked College Park Cavaliers in a warm-up match at Adline Campbell Center by the scores of 25-23, 21-25, 26-24, 25-23.
The Lady Oilers start the playoff season on Monday, November 2 at 6:30 p.m.at Krueger Field House (Clear Lake HS).
Leading the way for the Lady O's was Marissa Collins who had 16 kills; 33 assists; 6 aces; 4 blocks; 22 digs. Malorie Pardo added 14 kills, 28 assists; 4 aces; 8 blocks; 15 digs. Kaylie Young added 21 digs and two aces while Carlee Lacy had 18 digs and five aces.
Dawson sweeps Katy Seven Lakes
The Dawson Lady Eagles qualified for the first-ever volleyball playoffs and they beat Katy Seven Lakes 3-0 in a warm-up match.
Dawson faced El Campo on Tuesday (late) in the bi-district round.
Dawson beat Seven Lakes 26-24, 25-14, 25-16 to improve their season record to 24-18.
"Awesome all-around win against Katy Seven Lakes," said head coach Lori McLaughlin. "We needed this strong momentum and intensity going into the first round of play-offs on Tuesday. It is so great to see our girls come out ready to play hard and win. We are so proud!"
Assists leaders included Katie Haynie with 18 and Olivia Underwood with 13.
Friendswood ready to make run for Region III title
The Friendswood Lady Mustangs are strong once again this season and figure to be one of the final two teams still standing for the 4A Region III championship. Brenham will probably prove to be the other top contender.
The Lady 'Stangs opened up the first round of the playoffs against Rosenberg Terry on Tuesday (late).
