Lady O's cruise past George Ranch for league title

PEARLAND — Though the Pearland girls had already clinched the District 23-6A championship, head coach Lauren Martens and her girls wanted make sure they maintained their momentum by closing out the league race with a dominating 64-38 win over George Ranch.
The Lady Oilers easily took the first quarter 17-13 as sophomore Macey Braswell led the way with a 3-pointer and a pair of baskets for seven points.
Pearland then went on a 23-2 run in the second quarter as the Lady Longhorns could find only one basket as the Lady Oilers pressing defense was just too much causing 16 turnovers which turned into points.
The Lady O's only had two miscues in the first half while Jocelyn Thompson took the offensive baton to score 11 points for the 40-15 halftime lead.

The third quarter belonged to Braswell as she scored the first 13 points with three 3-pointers and a pair of short layups as the Lady Oilers outscored the visitors 15-13 for a 55-28 advantage entering the final frame.
George Ranch took the fourth quarter 10-9, but Pearland took the game 64-38.
Braswell scored a game-high 25 points while Thompson tossed in 17.
Pearland faced Clear Lake in the opening round of the 6A Region III playoffs on Tuesday night (late).
