PEARLAND — The Lady Oilers faced some stiff competition at the High School Sports Live (HSSL) softball tournament which head coach Laneigh Clark knows will prepare her team for the upcoming District 22-5A opener as well as the post-season where the Lady Oilers hope to defend their Class 5A Region III crown.
Pearland 5 - Tomball 0
Jessica Bowden pitched a complete game shut-out, fanning six while Jaclyn Bechtle hit a three-run homer to get the tournament opening win.
Elkins 1 - Pearland 0
Junior pitcher Brook DuBois allowed Elkins only three hits, but couldn't get any run support as the Lady Oilers fell 1-0.
Pearland out hit the Lady Knights 10-3, but couldn't get someone to produce an RBI hit. Megan Coronado went 3-for-4 and Alena Moreno went 2-for-3.
Cinco Ranch 4 - Pearland 2
Brooke Dubois took the loss on the mound as Cinco Ranch nipped the Lady O's 4-2.
Runs were scored by Lauren Langner (2-for-3) and Jaclyn Bechtle (1-for3) while DuBois notched the only RBI of the game.
Pearland 1 - Austin Bowie 0
It took nine innings, but Pearland beat Austin Bowie 1-0 as Jessica Bowden pitched a complete game with 15 strikeouts. Brooke DuBois scored the game winning run on an RBI by Haley Beam (2-for-4).
Pearland 3 - Flower Mound 1
Jessica Bowden notched the win going seven innings with five strikeouts for the 3-1 victory. Megan Coronado scored all three runs going 2-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases. Lauren Langner and Brooke DuBois delivered the key RBIs.
Pearland 3 - Clear Brook 0
Brooke DuBois earned the win on the mound going seven innings with seven strikeouts as the Lady Oilers blanked Clear Brook 3-0.
Megan Coronado went 2-for-4 at the plate scoring one run and plating one run. Lauren Langner went (2-for-4, 1 RBI) scored a run while Brooke DuBois and Jaclyn Bechtle also went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Pearland opened up District 22-5A acton on Tuesday, March 9 (late) and will host Sam Rayburn on Friday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. The Lady O's will host La Porte on Tuesday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m. and then will travel to face Pasadena Memorial on Wednesday, March 17 at 6:30 p.m.
