PEARLAND — The District 22-5A boys track meet wasn't even close as the Pearland Oilers scored 204 points to double second-place Pasadena Memorial wo had 102. Dobie came in third with 87.5 followed by La Porte (74), Sam Rayburn (58), and Deer Park (57.5).
Eddie Lanier won first place in the long Jjump at 22-06.
Ryder Boatman won the high jump at 6-4.
Raymond Matellie won the gold in the pole vault at12-6).
Bradley Drenon captured gold in the discus with a throw of 155-3.
The dominant performance by the Oilers on the first day of the meet gave them 89 points and the team lead.
Lanier became a individual double gold medal winner with a victory in the 800 meters (1:59.33).
The 1600 meter foursome of Dustin Garrison, Lanier, Kemane Hagerman, and Nicholas Porche won the gold in 3:22.
Nicholas Porche was also an individual double gold medal winner with victories in the 100 meters (10.86) and the 200 meters (22.05).
Javonte Mitchell placed second in the 100 meters (11.02).
The 800 meter relay team of Dominique Robago, Eric Cooper, Jeff Phillips, and Desmond King placed second (1:31.48).
Lanier also placed second in the 400 meters (51.13) while Garrison was third (51.35), and Hageman was fourth (51.92).
Robert Jackson was third in the 300 meter hurdles (41.56).
Trey Wood was third in the 1600 meters (4:43.17).
Trevor Sealy was third in the shot put (45-6) and Cole Staudt was sixth (42.7 1/2).
Michael Roberts was second in the high jump (6-4) and Phillips was fifth (6-0).
Deandre Robinson was second in the long jump (21-1 3/4).
Turner Glasgow was third in the pole vault (11-6).
Lanier placed second in the triple jump (43-10) while Robinson was third (43-6).
“This win was a complete team effort," Pearland head coach Fred Armstron said. "Along with the first place finishes, we had numerous team members who added points to the team total. This is a tribute to the hard work the kids and the coaching staff have put in this year”.
The Oilers managed to score points in all but one event in the meet on their way to the title. Pearland will have a strong representation at the 5A Region III meet as the top three places advance to regionals.
