PASADENA — In the first three games of the season, head coach Tony Heath saw each game decided in the final minute. The Oilers, who should have beaten Kingwood, lost on a field goal 9-7 with 41 seconds left in the game. The following week, Pearland pulled out a 22-21 win over Kempner with 49 seconds showing on the game clock. Against Memorial, there was only 17.6 seconds left in the game in a 20-14 victory.
After an open week -- the Oilers came out fired up against Pasadena and the game was decided after the first four possessions of the game in the opening period.
The Oilers scored so quickly that with 2:28 showing on the scoreboard -- Pearland was in front 28-0 and it was evident that things were going to get any better for the Eagles.
Pearland opened the game with a nine-play, 80-yard scoring drive that was capped off with Trey Anderson hitting Jackie Robinson on a 37-yard strike. Dylan Nowak booted the extra point for a 7-0 lead with 9:08 left in the opening period.
It took the Oilers only two more plays to score again as Pasadena fumbled on their second down and Myles Kanipes rushed in to scoop up the ball for a 17-yard fumble recovering and score.
The Pearland defense forced Pasadena to punt after three plays and it was Kanipes again who scorched the Eagles for another score. Kanipes gathered in the punt at his own 37, took off to the left and then reversed his field while getting a great block from Kalon Collins to set sail on a 37-yard punt return for Pearland's third score with 5:47 left in the opening quarter and a 21-0 lead.
Once again, the Pearland defense limited the Eagles to five yards to force another punt.
Setting up at their own 38, it took only three plays as Anderson hooked up with Dustin Garrison for a short screen pass and the junior speedster juked a couple of defenders before setting sail for a 67-yard score and a 28-0 advantage.
Garrison scored on a 33-yard run early in the second period giving Pearland a 35-0 lead. Stanley Moody would tack on a 53-yard scoring dash with 6:11 left in the quarter to spot the Oilers a 42-0 halftime lead.
The hapless Eagles had only 20 yards passing and -minus 1 yard rushing in the first half. The Oilers didn't a first down until the second quarter and that was the only one Pasadena could muster.
The second half saw Moody score on a 52-yard run while Robinson added a 63-yard jaunt and Dominic Rabago picked up another fumble and returned it for a score to make the final 61-0.
Coach Heath removed his starters after the first half and the second half was set on a running clock that only stopped on a time out or injury. The Oilers also took a knee on the final two extra points.
Pearland finished with 13 first downs and 449 total yards while Pasadena had four first downs and 73 total yards.
Anderson was 12-of-13 passing for 175 yards and two scores. Moody had five carries for 120 yards and two scores. Garrison had four carries for 51 yards and one TD. Robinson had four totes for 87 yards and one score.

Pearland will host Sam Rayburn on Friday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. for Homecoming at The Rig.
