The teams were assigned to Pool Play comprised of four teams that would play each other with the top two teams advancing to the championship bracket and the bottom two teams advancing to the consolation bracket.

The state 7-on-7 tournament will be held in College Station on June 24-26 on the campus of Texas A&M University. Pearland Dawson, Manvel, and Shadow Creek have all qualified for this year's tournament.

The Pearland Oilers diamondmen have a chance to do something that very few schools have ever done and that is to follow in the footsteps of the girls softball team to win the baseball title as well.The Lady Oilers beat Denton Guyer 4-2 to capture the 2023 Class 6A state softball title and now the No. 1 state-ranked Oilers have an opportunity to bring both titles to Pearland.

For the seventh time in school history, Pearland advanced to the state tournament (1995, 2009, 2011, 2016) with three state titles (1996, 2010, 2023). Pearland was led by a senior class that had the drive and talent to set the pace with some talented underclassmen who were willing to follow the leadership of the seniors and make the Lady Oilers a complete squad that had a "never say die" mentality.

Friendswood ends the 2023 season with a 26-6-2 record while winning the District 18-5A crown with a 10-1 mark.

36th Annual JP Griffon Fishing Tournament  Photos Included

The annual JP Griffon Fishing Tournament is one of the largest in-shore tournaments in the state, held at Port Mansfield in May, to help raise scholarship money for 2023 graduates.

Now that the papers have been signed and delivered, student-athletes can focus on the rest of their senior year - to concentrate on their studies and spring sports before it will be time to head to their respective schools to begin their educational and athletic careers at the collegiate level. Do you remember when it was all right to fill your cup with coffee -add all the ingredients, then to tip the cup at an angle so the coffee could spiII over into the saucer and slurp your coffee?

The battle in District 23-6A is a little half over and the Oilers are trying to stay in playoff contention, but youth and inexperience seems to be the biggest hurdle for head coach Steve Buckelew and his hardcourt warriors.
