Dawson shuts out Dobie 26-0 in district opener

Dobie slipped in the playoffs over Dawson last season with a hail Mary pass at the end of the Manvel vs Dobie game that gave the Longhorns an unlikely 54-44 win over the Mavs.
The Horns had to beat Manvel by 17 or more points to knock the Eagles out of the post-season which they did.
Dawson beat Dobie last season 51-36.
The Eagles left no doubt as to the outcome of the game this year as the Eagle defense limited the 'Horns to only 118 yards of total offense and eight first downs.
Meanwhile the Dawson offense rolled up 333 yards of total offense (181 rushing - 152 passing) in a balanced scoring attack.
Both teams failed to score in the first quarter, but Dawson finally broke the ice as QB Luke Brown hit Corey Brown on a short 11-yard scoring toss. Kicker Noah Abela booted the PAT for a 7:00 lead to complete a 9-play, 63-yard scoring drive.
The next three scores for Dawson became the Noah Abela show as he hit three field goals on the next three possessions with kicks of 47, 34, and 25-yards for a 16-0 lead that included two in the second quarter and one at the first of the third period.
The Eagles added another touchdown in the third quarter when Corey Brown scored on a 4-yard run to make the 24-0 following the 2-point conversion.
Dawson would get two more points in the fourth quarter as the defense sacked a Dobie runner in their end zone for a safety to make the final score 26-0.
QB Luke Brown was 10-of-21 passing for 125 yards and one score while gaining 30 yards on 11 carries.
Corey Brown had three carries for 16 yards and one score while Greg Earl had 10 totes for 52 yards. Calvin Wesley had one carry for 24 yards and Evan DeLucia had eight totes for 56 yards.
Corey Brown had four catches for 80 yards and one TD while Aidan Guerero had one grab for 38 yards. Wesley had three catches for 20 yards and Kingston Walwyn had two catches for 20 yards.
Dawson is now 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in district.
