Dawson trounces Alvin 42-7

Junior RB Evan DeLucia led the Dawson ground attack with four carries for 124 yards including a 97-yard touchdown run.

The Dawson Eagles have already punched their ticket to the post-season and they continued their winning ways with a 42-7 district win over the Alvin Yellowjackets who fell to 2-6 on the season.

The Eagles are 6-1 in district which is good for second place behind Pearland who have clinched the district crown.

Dawson and Manvel will face one another on Friday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Pearland ISD Stadium in the final regular season game for the Eagles who have an open date on Friday, November 7.

After Dawson was forced to punt on their first possession after three plays, the Eagles held Alvin and then proceeded to reel off six straight scoring drives for 42 points in the first half.

Lightning struck on Dawson's second possession when QB Luke Brown dropped back and hit WR Corey Brown at the Eagles 13 in which the speedy receiver raced 93 yards for a crowd-pleasing touchdown with 8:29 left in the first quarter. Kicker Noah Abela hit the PAT for a 7-0 Dawson lead.

On Dawson's next possession, on their own one-yard line, it took only two plays as RB Evan DeLucia got the handoff from Brown in his own end zone, broke through the Alvin defense, and ran 97 yards for the score. Abela booted the PAT and the Eagles had a 14-0 lead with 7:12 left in the opening quarter.

Dawson next score was set up by an interception as Luke Brown scored on a 3-yard quarterback keeper to extend the lead to 21-0 after one period.

The Eagles scored three more times in the second quarter as back-up quarterback Zion Anderson fires two touchdown passes to WR Jaden Williams for 55-yards and WR Anthony Fournet for 22-yards to make the score 42-0.

Alvin finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter to narrow the gap to 42-7.

Dawson had 544 total yards (204 rushing, 340 passing) while holding Alvin to only 192 total yards.

Luke Brown was 4-of-11 passing for 200 yards and one TD. Anderson was 6-of-8 passing for 96 yards and two TDs.

DeLucia had four carries for 124 yards and one score.

Corey Brown had two grabs for 170 yards and one TD; Williams had two catches for 56 yards and one TD; Kingston Walwyn had four catches for 39 yards; Fournet had two catches for 25 yards and one score; and Josiah McFarland had one grab for 29 yards.

Dawson (7-2, 6-1) will host Manvel (5-3, 4-2) on Friday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Pearland ISD Stadium.
