PEARLAND — The District 24-4A action has just begun, but the Dawson Eagles have jumped out to a quick 2-0 mark by thrashing the Texas City Stingarees (0-2) 12-2.
Dawson (2-0) pounded out 10 hits and scored seven two-out runs during the game which put the Stings in a hole they never could get out of.
With two outs in the first inning, Dawson took advantage of an error that allowed Sam Boake to step up to the plate and drill a three-run homer. Boake finished the game going 3-for-3 with a roundtripper and double while driving in for RBIs and scoring three times.
The Eagles increased the lead 8-1 when they scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings and then closed out the Stings with four runs in the top of the seventh for the 12-2 victory.
Carlos Amaya and Collin Hopkins each drove in two runs for the Eagles and Tony Carillo had a pair of hits with a double and two RBIs.
Texas City was limited to only six hits and two runs.
