Pearland (24-4), who sits atop the league leaderboard at 12-0, has been easily going through district competition.
The two teams faced one another in Round One and Pearland squeezed out a 1-0 win after scoring once in the third inning.
But Round Two was totally different as the Lady Oilers banged out 12 hits including two home runs by Payton Shugart (3-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs, 2HRs, 2B) and one round tripper by Layla Bennett (2-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, 1HR) in the 11-1 district win.
The Lady Oilers opened the game by scoring five runs in the first frame to set the tone for the game.
Dawson had threated in the top of the first inning with two base runners but Pearland was able to get three outs to retire the side to leave the Lady Eagles scoreless.
Pearland added three more runs in the second inning that featured a two-run homer over the centerfield wall by Shugart and an 8-0 advantage.
Neither team scored in the third and then Pearland added three more runs in the fourth frame as Shugart blasted her second long ball and Bennett followed her with a back-to-back blast to increase the lead to 11-0.
Dawson managed to score a run in the top of the fifth but that would be all as the game ended on the 10-run mercy rule.
Madelyn Guzman was the winning pitcher for the Lady Oilers as she allowed only three hits, no runs over four innings while striking out five and walking three.
Other top hitters for Pearland included Anison Lopez (1-for-4, 2 runs,), Elania Njus (1-for-3, 1 run, 1 RBI), Olivia Matejk (1-for-3, 1 run, 2 RBIs, 1HR), Mallory Leveille (2-for-2), and Mya Meza (1-for-3, 1 RBI), and Dre Smith (1-for-1, 1 run, 1 RBI).
Pearland improves to 24-4 overall and 12-0 in district while Dawson drops to 14-11 overall and 8-4 in district which is good for third place behind Pearland and Dobie (19-8, 9-2).
