Friendswood Lady Mustangs

Friendswood 4 - Texas City 2

The Friendswood Lady Mustangs strengthened their playoff position with a 4-2 district win over the Texas City Lady Stings to improve to 6-2 in the league standings while Texas City fell to 3-6.

Friendswood is in second place behind La Porte while Texas City drops to fifth place.

With the game tied 2-2 entering the sixth frame, Friendswood got back-to-back singles by Megan Janda and Lenox Laviolette. Paiton Winkler drew a walk to load the bases with one out.

Friendswood's Hanna Craighead was the next batter and she hit a ground ball to the Texas City shortstop who elected to throw to home plate on a force out, but the ball went to the back of the screen allowing the Lady Stangs to plate two runs by Janda and Laviolette to make the score 4-2.

Leading hitters for Friendswood were Hanna Craighead (1-for-2, 1 run, 1 RBI, 1 2B), Lenox Laviolette (1-for-3, 1 run), Macie Manus (1-for-2, 1 RBI), and Megan Jada (2-for-3, 2 runs, 1 2B).

The winning pitcher for Friendswood was Madelyn Green who allowed four hits, two runs, four walks, and struck out seven.

Friendswood 6 - Iowa Colony 0

Friendswood took care of business with a 6-0 win over Iowa Colony.

The Lady Mustangs never let the Lady Pioneers get on the board as the game was the fourth consecutive victory against Iowa Colony.

Madelyn Green gave up just three hits and fanned eight batters to get the shut out win for Friendswood.

Friendswood scored a pair of runs in the opening frame, added another run in the second inning, one in the fifth, and two insurance runs in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.

Ryland Pesak was the leading hitter for the Lady Stangs as she went 4-fo-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBIs.

Friendswood's record now sits at 19-6 and 7-2 in district.

Pearland Lady Oilers

Pearland 15 - Pasadena Memorial 0

Pearland traveled to face Pasadena Memorial and returned home with a 15-0 win in five innings thanks to the mercy rule.

It was the 11th consecutive win for the Lady Oilers and they have won 19 games this season by more than five runs.

The win gives Pearland a 26-4 overall record as they are currently ranked as the No. 7 Class 6A team in the state. The Lady Oilers sit atop the district leaderboard at 14-0 and have already punched their ticket to the Class 6A playoffs.

Layla Bennett was the offensive leader for the Lady Oilers as she hit a home run to left field in the fourth inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning. Bennett scored four times and drove in three runs.

Payton Shugart also had a big game going 4-for-4 with one run scored and four RBIs including a home run Payton Powell who tripled, scoring two runs, Elaina Njus who doubled and homered for two runs scored and two RBIs, and Mya Meza who singled, scoring one run.

Madelyn Guzman earned the win for Pearland in the pitching circle. Guzman gave up two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one.

Dawson Lady Eagles

Dawson 16 - Sam Rayburn 0

The Dawson Lady Eagles run-ruled the Sam Rayburn Lady Texans 16-0 in three innings to improve to 16-11 overall and 10-4 in district which is currently good for third place behind league-leading Pearland (14-0) and Dobie (10-3).

Dawson's Janelle Jacobs drove in four runs on two hits to lead the offensive attack. In the second inning, Jacobs doubled, scoring three runs.

Dawson scored nine runs in the first inning. Caroline Roth tripled, scoring one run, Carissa Anaya singled, scoring two runs, Phoenyx Carreon drew a walk, scoring one run, Yanni Holloway singled, scoring one run, Arianna Picket induced Janelle Jacobs to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, and Carissa Anaya tripled, scoring two runs.

Jacobs earned the win for the Lady Eagles in the pitching circle. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out five and walking none.
