It was reported in the July 15 issue of the Pearland Reporter News that the Pearland Oilers finished in fourth place at the 7-on-7 state tournament. Actually - the Oilers were in the consolation round while 32 other teams advanced to the championship round from the four-team pool play. While the Oilers advanced to the consolation finals where they lost to Stratford -- they actually finished 34th out of the 64 total teams and not fourth overall.

Seth Dornak held the Falcons to four hits while the Oilers pounded out 10 hits including a HR by Drew Dekerlegand. Pearland advances to the 5A Region III semifinals and will play the winner of the Atascosita/Katy series which is tied 1-1.

The Lady Oilers held a 2-1 lead for most of the game until Bellaire picked up four runs in the top of the fifth for a 5-2 lead. The no-quit Lady O's scored one run in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally was cut short leaving the teams tied at 1-1 in their best-of-three series. The third and final game will be played on Saturday, May 23 at Manvel HS at 7:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the 5A Region III finals.
