The Pearland Lady Oiler softball team will have its 13th annual barbecue dinner and auction on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Searcy Ninth Grade Center. The silent auction will start at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m., and a live auction at 7 p.m.

It was reported in the July 15 issue of the Pearland Reporter News that the Pearland Oilers finished in fourth place at the 7-on-7 state tournament. Actually - the Oilers were in the consolation round while 32 other teams advanced to the championship round from the four-team pool play. While the Oilers advanced to the consolation finals where they lost to Stratford -- they actually finished 34th out of the 64 total teams and not fourth overall.

Oilers sweep Katy to advance to 5A Region III finals

HOUSTON — Beginning on Thursday, June 4, Pearland and Brazoswood will renew their rivalry at UH's Cougar Field at 8:00 p.m. The second game will be on Saturday, June 6 at 4:00 p.m. at UH. A third game (if necessary) will follow 30 minutes after the second game.

BASEBALL, 5A Region III Quarterfinals — Pearland vs. Channelview. — Game 2: Pearland 11 - Channelview 1.The Pearland bats continued to showcase their power as the Oilers blasted Channelview 11-1 giving Pearland a sweep over the Falcons. Seth Dornak held the Falcons to four hits while the Oilers pounded out 10 hits including a HR by Drew Dekerlegand. Pearland advances to the 5A Region III semifinals and will play the winner of the Atascosita/Katy series which is tied 1-1.
SOFTBALL, 5A Region III Semifinals — Pearland vs. Bellaire — Game 2: Bellaire 5 - Pearland Lady Oilers 3. The Lady Oilers held a 2-1 lead for most of the game until Bellaire picked up four runs in the top of the fifth for a 5-2 lead. The no-quit Lady O's scored one run in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally was cut short leaving the teams tied at 1-1 in their best-of-three series. The third and final game will be played on Saturday, May 23 at Manvel HS at 7:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the 5A Region III finals.

SOFTBALL, 5A Region III Semifinals — Pearland vs. Bellaire — Game 1: Pearland 3 - Bellaire 0. The Lady Oilers blanked Bellaire 3-0 to win the first game of their best-of-three series. Pearland belted out 12 hits including four bunt hits and three infield hits. "Our game plan was to put the ball in play, put pressure on them and make them make mistakes," head coach Laneigh Clark said. Game 2 is Friday, May 22, 7:30pm at Manvel HS.
